Online activity groups now open to new members

October 19, 2020

Zoom Art Group

After a temporary pause during lockdown, Ecas activity groups have been running successfully online and are now open to new participants. From beginners to advanced and everyone in between, our groups offer fun and social connection to physically disabled adults in Edinburgh and Lothian.

Improve your health and wellbeing and meet others through:

  • Gentle exercise such as yoga and tai chi
  • Music, reading and creative writing and art/craft groups
  • Computing, with one to one sessions on topics of your choice

“The social connection is very important, especially if you live alone,” says Marion, a member of the Reading and Creative Writing group. “It’s great hearing everyone’s comments about people’s writing. I really appreciate that. And we get lots of ideas about what we can write in the future.”

“I can still enjoy my art class whilst staying safe and not having to travel outdoors,” said Joanne.

When it’s safe to do so, our activities will meet in person again, but now Zoom connects our group leaders and participants. Ecas offers support to get set up and used to the video conferencing technology. “I was apprehensive about using Zoom, but I now find it quite easy and straightforward,” said Reading and Creative Writing group member Angela.

Activities cost £2.30 per session and new members can try an activity for two weeks before signing up. To learn more and apply, visit our Activities page or call Ally on 07500 221 618.
