A ‘facilitated friendship’ involves Ecas supporting two disabled people who have lost touch or are finding it hard to keep their friendship going – perhaps because they’ve moved to a different area or because they can’t get out any more.
If this applies to you, or someone you know or are working with, please get in touch and we can:
- learn about the situation;
- visit with both people to gather the information we need; and
- make an agreement to support regular meetings.
Ecas can then assist with making practical arrangements – usually in the form of fully funded accessible transport to support visits at home or out and about on a regular basis. If necessary, we may also agree to cover the cost of a PA to assist with these meetings.
Old school friends reunited
Anne and Trisha have known each other since they were eight years old. Having lost contact some years ago they were brought back together by Ecas, now meeting up every couple of months, including a visit to the Royal Botanic Garden. Here they are and enjoying a day out shopping at Cameron Toll celebrating Anne’s birthday.
