Facilitated friendships

A ‘facilitated friendship’ involves Ecas supporting two disabled people who have lost touch or are finding it hard to keep their friendship going – perhaps because they’ve moved to a different area or because they can’t get out any more.

Old school friends reunited

Anne and Pat have known each other since they were eight years old. Having lost contact some years ago they were brought back together by Ecas, now meeting up every couple of months. Here they are visiting the Royal Botanic Garden and enjoying a day out shopping at Cameron Toll celebrating Ann’s birthday.

Keeping Cathy and Jean connected

Cathy and Jean are sisters who live on opposite sides of Edinburgh. They both developed mobility problems, which made it difficult for them to see one another as they used to. Since March 2018, Ecas has provided free transport so they can meet for a cup of tea and a chat every couple of weeks.
