Logan moved from London to Scotland with his family in 2023. His mum, Katy, dad, Francisco, and little sister Sofia are settling in well to life up here, as is Logan.
Logan was born with Kabuki syndrome and has complex physical, communication and medical needs. This makes life very busy for those around him, as there is a lot to remember and coordinate.
In October 2024, Katy applied for an Ecas Grant to cover the costs of an iPad for Logan, so that his PAMIS digital programme could be within reach at all times.
The Grant application was successful and Logan received his new iPad dedicated to his PAMIS programme.
It goes everywhere with him.
We visited Logan and Katy to learn more about how the Ecas grant is making a positive difference. We received a very warm welcome, and it was a real pleasure to meet them and to see Logan’s iPad in action. There were also hugs for all of us along the way to add a little extra joy to the day!

Thinking and planning ahead
As Logan gets older and will be leaving school over the next few years, Katy is keen to ensure the day to day is as easy, enjoyable, comfortable and safe as possible for her son and those who spend time with him,
‘Now, wherever he is, everyone knows about him, thanks to the dedicated iPad loaded with his PAMIS programme.’
Everything anyone who is with Logan needs to know is included and updated regularly on his PAMIS. This ranges from his emergency, medical and support requirements to general information about his family and his likes and dislikes.
For example, Logan does NOT like baths and messy things BUT he loves cuddles, watches, music and lights. His musical tastes are varied, from classical and peaceful piano to help him relax and go to sleep, to clapping songs and his favourite Mexican music, inspired by his Mexican roots!

Welcome peace of mind
As you can see, Logan’s iPad really does play a key role in making life easier and more enjoyable, whilst also helping to safeguard his health. This brings welcome peace of mind to his loved ones.

‘This grant has been amazing for our family. It means we have a dedicated iPad for Logan’s special programme which means we can have his medical and personal information at hand all the time from hospital appointments to his PA.
‘As a family, this makes regular hospital appointments easier and give us and his PA peace of mind that all important information about Logan is at hand at all times.
‘Grants like this make all the difference to families like ours.’
Thank you Logan and Katy for such a warm welcome and for sharing your story, to help encourage others to find out and apply for an Ecas Grant.
