Barbara, Ecas and the power of imagination
Barbara has been a regular with Ecas for over 20 years!
She enjoys attending our weekly groups including Art, Craft, Reading and Creative Writing and Tai Chi.
Everyone at Ecas loves Barbara’s company.
Her energy is infectious, and she brings joy to everyone around her with her amazing sense of humour and perspective on life.
Barbara is also a very creative and talented artist. She is able to bring her fantastic imagination to life, which is clearly reflected in her colour-filled artworks full of weird and wonderful characters!
Dreaming in technicolour
Barbara experienced a brain haemorrhage twenty years ago, so remembering things in her day-to-day life can be a challenge. She can, however, remember her dreams in great detail and what wonderful dreams to remember! Full of colour, curious adventures and interactions!
Barbara records her dreams in writing and each week shares them with our Craft Group – which never fails to bring us much laughter.
Music also influences Barbara’s creative work. Along with her dreams, she can often remember song lyrics and rhythms which are a great source of inspiration for her.

Barbara’s dreams are so vivid, she uses them as inspiration for her creative practice. Recently she has depicted her partner as a dalek, curious stolen horses wearing heels, a blue roast dinner, a jigsaw puzzle party and a spotty elephant (again, with heels, of course!

Anything goes
Barbara is open to trying any medium to depict her dreams. Currently she is using acrylic paint, chalk pastels and clay to really bring her dreams to life. Right now, she is making a painted set for her clay creations to live within – watch this space!
