Ecas is looking for both a Swimming Group Leader and Lifeguard for our Wednesday evening Hydrotherapy Sessions. Can you help or do you know someone who can?
Ecas is an Edinburgh-based charity and was established over a hundred years ago. The charity works to improve the quality of life of physically disabled people in the Edinburgh and Lothians area: promoting equality, choice and participation through our activities, befriending service and grants. The provision of activities for physically disabled adults is one of Ecas’ core aims. Groups are likely to be of mixed ability and to have varied physical disabilities.

Group Leader Salary: £22.25 per hour
Lifeguard Salary: £15.00 per hour
Start Date: Wednesday 21st February 2024, or as soon as possible

Overview
Ecas is reinstating its hydrotherapy swimming classes after pausing them due to the pandemic. Hydrotherapy provides our service users the opportunity to improve their strength, co-ordination and confidence in a warm water environment.
Ecas is seeking a Swimming Group Leader and Lifeguard for hydrotherapy swimming classes on Wednesdays at the hydropool, Oaklands School in the Pennywell/Drylaw area. The role involves the smooth running of the swimming group, using the most appropriate objectives, methods and materials on a case-by-case basis, to encourage group members to take part and become more independent in their outlook. We are also looking for a standby for both positions to cover illness.
Qualification
The post will interest anyone who has either a valid National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC) qualification.
Re: Group Leader position. Experience of teaching is desirable but not essential if Group Leaders can demonstrate an understanding of what to take into account in supporting service users of varying needs and abilities of the required aims and a willingness to work in a person-centred way.
Please see more information on both roles below, along with our Annual Report.
