Aoife McGrath is from Cork, Ireland and moved to Scotland in 2021 to train as a physiotherapist. She has since completed her MSc at Edinburgh Napier.
Aoife enjoyed her time in Scotland so much that she has decided to stay long term and now works as a physiotherapist in the NHS. As part of her NHS work, Aoife has been lucky enough to gain experience in delivering hydrotherapy for musculoskeletal conditions.
Aoife joined Ecas in March 2024 as the Group Leader for Swimming, just as the group was getting restarted following a pause for a few years during Covid. Her hope is that group members can have access to the water within a supportive environment, where they feel comfortable to pursue their own goals.
Many group members have attended swimming for years and welcomed Aoife as well as those new to swimming, into the group. Members have varied priorities within the swimming group. Some attend for relaxation within the warm water, others have more of an exercise focus and the water can allow access to body positions difficult for some to achieve on land.
